Low Cost Reviews

Tonnier Day Date

03/31/201901/10/2021

The Tonnier Day Date is another entry in my Low Cost Watches series of video reviews. I picked this up in a “lightning deal” back in early March 2019. The original price is $23.99, but I got it for $17.84, which was enough motivation to give it a try.

The review video: [https://youtu.be/K_RQBvo3iRM]

The details:

  • Model: Tonnier Day Date
  • Diameter: 42mm
  • Height: 11mm
  • Weight: 52g (on leather)
  • Lug-to-lug: 51mm
  • Case: Plated brass (likely), glossy black
  • Movement: Unknown (will updated on first battery change)
  • Lume: N/A
  • Accuracy: Unknown
  • Crystal: Mineral, Flat
  • Water Resistance: 30m/100ft
  • Strap: 22mm
  • Price: $23.99 retail (purchased for $17.84)

Pros:

  • Cost: Hard to beat at under $20
  • Dial: A subtly textured black, goes well with white-tipped hands
  • Movement: Day/Date at a good price with both English and Chinese, Sunday in red

Cons:

  • Case: Pictured as matte, turns out it gloss (would be better as matte). Quality is lacking in evenly painted surface. I would expect the coating and crystal will show signs of wear rather quick if worn much. They also reflect a lot of light.
  • Strap: Color and quality are not that great. Should quickly find itself on something better.
  • Dial: Can feel unbalanced due to the very simple design and day/date at 3.
