Vario Cordura Nylon Zulu Straps
Vario is a fairly well-established microbrand based in Singapore that specializes in a variety of watch accessories along with watches. They sent me a couple of their new Cordura Nylon Zulu Straps to review and here are my thoughts after spending a week wearing them around.
In 2019, I reviewed the Silver Empire after repairing it due to shipping or previous reviewer damage. Ivan kindly allowed me to keep it and the only watch I would likely replace it with would be another version of the Empire. Although a person is unlikely to like every single product a company releases, with Vario you can trust that you are getting a well-made product. Having a kind owner and thoughtful company ethos also help.

The details:
- Product: Vario Cordura Nylon Zulu Straps
- Widths: 20mm, 22mm, and 24mm
- Resistant to abrasion, tears, scuffs, water and stains
- Offered in One piece nylon and Two piece leather variants
- Suited for black dialed watches and Brushed Steel or Matte PVD cases
- Retail Price: ~$30
Pros:
- Quality look
- Quality material and feel. Tested for a week, will do a future check-in!
- One piece fits and feels great (i.e., more flex, thinner, comfort, ease of use).
- More specifics in the video!
- Spring bar clearance on the two piece, mostly due to the leather stitched around the nylon. Might have a hard time fitting a lot of cases, curved spring bars would be an improvement.
- Longer break-in time for the two piece.
- Tolerances quite tight on the two piece, making it difficult to get a watch on and off the wrist (i.e., strap width, keepers, tongue).
On The Wrist
Between the two, the one piece is more comfortable and much easier to get on and off the wrist, given the design and tolerances.

Final Thought
Vario is a cool watch microbrand that offers some great products. The Vario Cordura Nylon Zulu Straps are worth a try if you are looking for something extra durable and stylish. Although I personally do not like the fit and feel of the two piece Cordura leather strap, I do like and recommend the one piece nylon zulu strap. I am also looking forward to their upcoming watch releases which include a field-style watch and perhaps a new Empire model. Keep Vario on your radar!
